We won, and it was glorious. McCutchen drove in a bunch with some good wood. Harrison took a walk that resulted in a run(s). Correia didn’t torpedo us. We won in Milwaukee. What a great win! Or was it?
We shouldn’t have had the big inning that we had. Nyjer Morgan (aka Tony Plush) misplayed a ball hit right at him (if well) by Jose Tabata. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never felt more schadenfreude than when Morgan made that error (I’m sorry Jose, it was an error), but it wasn’t something that we deserved. Also, Randy Wolf is a bad enough pitcher that we shouldn’t have needed help from the Brewers defense to score runs.
Also, this was a Brewers lineup that featured Cody Rasmus and Brooks Conrad. Both are absolutely horrendous in the field and not exactly world beaters at the plate.
My point is, that yes, this win was sweet and exactly what I needed as a Pirates fan. But at the same time, it doesn’t really indicate that the Pirates are beyond being a below average team. I’d like to think that it is, but I’m not there yet. Prove me wrong, Pirates, and win tomorrow. Don’t have the Brewers (and Tony Plush) lose, but actually win. Please.
